If your searches aren't finding books you're sure are in the catalogue...
Click the magnifying-glass icon in the search box — this pops up a menu of search types. You may find you've accidentally asked Voluminous to search only in part of the catalogue. Click "All" in the popup menu to make sure you're searching the whole catalogue.
If a book won't download...
- Check that your Internet connection is working.
- Do you run an "ad-blocker", Internet filter or proxy server? Sometimes these can interfere with downloads. Try turning it off and restarting Voluminous.
If turning off your ad-blocker helps, please let us know the type of ad-blocker you use. We can let other people know about the problem, and may be able to find a work-around.
If a book won't open after downloading...
We checked every book in the catalogue before making Voluminous available, but since new books are added all the time, there's a very small chance a new book might not work.
If this happens to you, please report the book to us, so that we can fix it.
To report a book that won't open: Select the book in the catalogue, and pick "Report Book Problem" from the File menu. You'll be asked what the problem is, and you can fill in any extra comments that may be helpful. Thank-you for your assistance!
If a book opens, but looks wrong...
As we don't supply the books themselves, we can't do anything to change a book's contents. If it contains typing errors, or incorrect information, it is out of our hands (and we can't "ban" a book either, before anyone asks!)
However, we can fix some kinds of problem, by updating Voluminous, and we will when possible. For instance: if a book contains accented characters, but they are getting mixed up (or replaced with question-marks or boxes), we can usually fix this. Simply open a book for reading, and click the "Report a problem with this book" button on the toolbar, or the "Report Book Problem" item on the File menu.
If the catalogue never updates with new books...
Voluminous checks for new books about once a week. If, after eight days, you've got no updates:
- Try quitting and re-opening Voluminous.
- Check that your Internet connection is working.
- Do you run an "ad-blocker", Internet filter or proxy server? Sometimes these can interfere with downloads. Try turning it off and restarting Voluminous.
